Rod Abernethy is the 2019 Winner of American Songwriter's Bob Dylan Song Contest. His album "The Man I'm Supposed To Be" reached No. 9 in June 2018 on Folk Alliance International's Folk DJ Chart and he's performed as a featured artist at many Folk Alliance International conferences around the country. Rod is a unique blend of a authentic southern folk troubadour, master acoustic guitarist and award winning composer for film, TV and video games. In December 2019, Rod returns to the studio with Grammy nominated producer Neilson Hubbard (Mary Gauthier, Apace Relay, Glen Phillips) to record his new album due for release in early spring 2020.

This outstanding ensemble provides students with the opportunity to improve their individual and collective musical skills through performing in a traditional bluegrass band format. The overall style and character of the ensemble reflects the actual abilities and preferences of the ongoing membership of the group. Under the direction of the instructor, students actively participate in song selection and instrumental and vocal arrangements, thereby giving each member the authentic experience of performing in a working bluegrass band.
