Four-time Grammy winner David Holt and one of our very best mountain musicians, Josh Goforth, will join us.
David is a musician, historian, television host, storyteller, and entertainer, dedicated to performing and preserving traditional American music. He plays ten acoustic instruments and has released numerous recordings.
David is well known for his currently running PBS series, “David Holt’s State of Music”. He’s also hosted several other TV series in a truly remarkable career. He performed countless concerts with Doc Watson. He and Doc won 2 Grammys on 2002 for their 3 CD collection, “Legacy”.
Josh, himself a Grammy nominee, was already playing piano in church when he was four years old. Producer Hugh Sturgill once said of Josh that he was “a superstar in waiting”. Well, he’s no longer waiting.
Ironically, Josh first got interested in traditional music when, as a sixth-grader he saw a performance by Sheila Kay Adams and…..you guessed it….David Holt. As time went by, Josh learned to play ten instruments.
He’s performed all over the US, Europe and Asia. At the prestigious Fiddler’s Grove Festival in 2005, Josh won “Fiddler of the Festival” making him the youngest person ever to win the title three times.
The combination of Josh and David is unbeatable for bringing the kind of smile you can only get from incredible talent applied to the great music and tales from our storied mountains.
