American Spirit is an ongoing project inspired by Christian’s tours abroad for the U.S. State Department.
He was inspired by a behind-the-scenes look at the diplomatic effort to support Ukrainian democracy. “Hearing personal stories from people who lived through the bombings of peaceful protests moved me to tears,” he says.
This prompted him to consider what American Spirit means for him.
We hope you’ll agree that
- No one gets to tell you what patriotism means, or what it is to be American
- You get to decide and/or create its meaning for you
