All-Star Jazz Group Will Join Husband-Wife Duo Touted by NY Times; Riccardi’s A YouTube Sensation With Over 100 Million Hits

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C.—The Joey Harrington Quartet,led by Dr. Bill Bares protégé and jazz pianist Joey Harrington,has been added to the New Year Eve show with TheRiccardi’s at White Horse Black Mountain,it was announced today.

Harrington, a local favorite who has played several music venues in the Asheville area, will join The Riccardi’s, the husband-and-wife team cited for their “musical genius” by New York Times Magazine and called “my new favorite singing songwriting team!” by comedian and television personality Rosie O’Donnell. Harrington’s all-star band will play for the audience’s listening and dancing pleasure when The Riccardi’s aren’t performing.

Tickets for the Dec. 31 extravaganza, which will start at 9 p.m. and continue through

1 a.m. on New Year’s Day, are priced at $23 in advance and $25 the day of the show. Doors will open at 8:15 p.m. Everyone will receive a complimentary glass of champagne to toast the New Year.

The Riccardi’s clever political and socio-relevant lyrics—along with brilliant jazz piano work and vocal arrangements—has made them social media sensations to the tune of more than 100 million YouTube views to date.

Harrington, who has been studying with pianist Dr. Bill Bares at UNC Asheville since 2016, recently released his first EP called the Lipinsky Sessions, which also featured Connor Law on upright bass and Will Younts on drums.

The Riccardi’s have been called“Two leaders of the Trump Resistance, Cabaret Division” by Baltimore’s Cabaret Scenes Magazine. The magazine also says tandem “are Invariably, the snarky couple will leave you laughing in the face of modern life and politics.” Specialists in parody and hilarious originals, they have been retweeted by Harry Potter author JK Rowling and featured in the Washington Post Online.

Their greatest hits include "Boy From Mar-a-Lago", "Holiday Dinner Party", "Tiki Torch Nazis", "Elton Has An Organ", and "Oh Donny Boy". The Riccardi’s intelligent and sexy comedy songs, beautifully sung and delivered about New Age (Tinder-ly) and Older Age love and life, will also leave you roaring with laughter or shedding a few tears.

Richard Riccardi has played for such greats as Joel Grey, Martha Raye, Diahann Carroll, Tom Jones, Wesla Whitfield and Mel Torme; as well as numerous Broadway tours. He frequently records at Skywalker Ranch for movies and video games, and it is entirely possible he’s the guy playing piano on your ringtones. Sandy spent 11 years in New York City doing musical theater and light opera with NY Gilbert and Sullivan Players, Westchester Broadway Theater, and many more.

White Horse Black Mountain (105 Montreat Rd.) is a 215-seat music and arts venue that has staged more than 2,500 concerts and other events during its 10-year history.
