Kyoto’s One-of-a-Kind Talent Will Be On Display at

White Horse Black Mountain Next Month

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C.—Hiroya Tsukamoto, a truly unique composer, guitarist and singer-songwriter who has performed frequently at the famed Blue Note jazz club in New York City and on Japanese National Television (NHK), will make an appearance at White Horse Black Mountain on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 8 p.m.

Hiroya, a native of Kyoto, Japan, began playing the five-string banjo when he was 13 years old, and took up the guitar shortly after. In 2000, he received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and came to the United States. He formed his own group in Boston called “INTEROCEANICO (inter-oceanic)” which consists of unique musicians from different continents including Latin Grammy Colombian singer Marta Gomez. The group released three acclaimed albums, “The Other Side of the World”, “Confluencia” and “Where the River Shines”.

Tsukamoto also has released three solo albums, “Solo”, “Heartland” and “Places.”

Hiroya who has been performing throughout the world, won second place in the 2018 International Finger Style Guitar Championship. His work has drawn lavish praise:

White Horse Black Mountain (105 Montreat Rd.) is a 215-seat music and arts venue that has staged more than 2,500 concerts and other events during its 10-year history.
