BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C.—Rod Abernethy, an authentic southern folk troubadour and major force on the North Carolina music scene for decades, will make a special appearance at White Horse Black Mountainon Friday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m.

Abernethy, also a master guitarist and award-winning soundtrack composer, collaborated on his new double album,The Man I’m Supposed To Be, with legendary producer Don Dixon (REM, Marti Jones, The Smithereens, Marshall Crenshaw).

The 2018 release, which features star performances by John Teer of Chatham County Line (mandolin), Joe Newberry (banjo), Carlin Cary and Susan Cattaneo (background vocals) and Pattie Kinlaw Hopkins of Hank, Pattie and The Current (fiddle), reached No.9 in June 2018 and No. 35 for the year 2018 on Folk Alliance International’s Folk DJ chart.

White Horse Black Mountain (105 Montreat Rd.) is a 215-seat music and arts venue that has staged more than 2,500 concerts and other events during its 10-year history.
